My name is Sean Wilkinson. I am 21 years old and within the next 36 hours I will finally be a Western Options High School Graduate! Somethings that everyone should know about me is for one I am engaged to the most beautiful girl of my dreams. We are coming up on our three year anniversary. The biggest thing about my life is that I live and suffer from a genetic disease called Cystic Fibrosis. This is a rare disease that roughly impacts 30,000 children and adults in The United States and causes thick mucus to build up and block the small airways in the lungs, which causes chronic respiratory infections. This mucus also blocks roughly 80% of my pancreas' ability to digest and break down food and process fat. Due to this I need to take digestive enzymes every time I eat. This blockage and difficulty taking in the important fats and vitamins necessary to stay normally healthy causes me to have a hard time gaining weight, which has resulted in my current physical form. A 21 year struggle with my health and dozens of hospital stays and countless doses of oral and intravenous antibiotics has inspired me to shoot for the moon with what I wanna do with my life. With my obsessive interest in medicine and fascination about how the body controls itself I am going to pursue being an Anesthesiologist at the University of Michigan Hospital. It's a long, very stressful 9-12 year uphill battle but anything is possible. I have overcome things nobody would believe and that drive has me realize how important it is to value more of my important priorities in life. Being a very well respected human being is very important to me and the title of Doctor will make my ultimate dream a reality.
